VIRGO Aug 24-Sept 23

So you're modest and retiring, chaste and unsullied? Appalled by the messier sides of reality? Yeah, right - of course you are! Sure, you aspire to the pristine and fresh. Maybe there is a place for everything and everything should be in its place. But, taken to extremes, this need for order could put you in a neurotic spin, relentlessly nit-picking over the minutiae. Of course, most times the devil is in the details. Even so, always practice seeing the bigger picture. There's no need to fret so much. Sometimes things just don't add up in a cool and clinical manner. Save yourself a lot of angst, relax - serendipity always has its part to play. Your rapier wit makes you great fun to be with; that mercurial mind of yours can parry any criticism. Yes, criticism is an important issue for you - just don't be so self-effacing. Or too tough on others for that matter. You love to serve, yet you've got a strange and quirky side that in an unexpected moment could burst forth leaving the more staid of your associates flabbergasted.

During the course of the coming year: Summertime, an eccentric romantic choice gives you the opportunity to reconcile a deep-seated issue concerning intimacy, while an inspired but slightly disruptive change could give you the professional up-grade you deserve. In autumn, money, travel and communication are given a philanthropic boost by exuberant Jupiter's transit of incisive and sexy Scorpio. A winter break could provide the venue for an intense meeting that could revolutionise your ambitions. Springtime, your diligence and commitment will begin to pay off. Wow! By now you should've got a handle on your finances. Well done!

LIBRA Sep 24-Oct 23

They love ya kid! It's great to be popular. It's great to make an impact. You could soon be in a more powerful and very responsible position. With any impressive upgrade comes accountability. This month's glamorously dramatic New Moon is all about issues of loyalty and pride. Even so you've got to weigh carefully where loyalty ends and nepotism begins. Could things get any better? Well yeah, they could! Venus the goddess of love, art and beauty, your ruler, returns to your sign. You should look amazing, bump into some truly gorgeous people and have a better handle on exactly what form your future needs to take.

SCORPIO Oct 24-Nov 22

Even if others could cajole you into kicking back, you aren't going to just dip out in a soporific haze. Motivated by a tense aspect from the New Moon, you've now a greater sense of the drama of your own existence. Even so, something about your career path needs to be reassessed. Use any enforced downtime strategically in order to capitalise on the mega fortunate transit of Jupiter through your own sign later this autumn. Yes, behind those cool shades, during the languid 'dog days' of August, you'll be doing some pretty inscrutable calculations. But, being you, you'll find the odd minute or two to indulge in a few very steamy interludes.

SAGITTARIUS Nov 22-Dec 21

A bit of sustained physical exercise might help burn off all that pent up emotional energy. Yes, it's an emotional issue that's causing a lot of the confusing chaos streaming through important discussions. With Mercury, the winged messenger, seemingly hurtling backwards across the sky, any meaningful communication will need to be constantly re-clarified. The New Moon could make you prematurely bold. Demanding loyalty and commitment before the 17th could provoke needless angst. Once Mercury goes direct, reasonable dialogue will begin in earnest. The Full Moon's dippy 'mates for life' vibe might be heart warming - but really all your relationships have to pass a gritty reality check inspired by past expierences.

CAPRICORN Dec 22-Jan 30

It's great of course that you're in such a light-hearted mood. But, if someone pushes you to reveal your true motives on the 17th, come clean, let them in on what's really happening for you. Yes, there might well be a fantastic deal to be had or a brilliantly intense and almost magical sexually adventure waiting in the wings, but you're beginning to realise that the material world (a realm on which you've got a pretty good suss) is by its very nature limited. Instead of being blown away by this obvious fact of life, you could become extraordinary elated. Yes, you wise old soul, as the Full Moon could delightfully reveal, there's more to existence than we could ever believe. By the way, that twinkle in your eye is very attractive as an unexpected encounter at an unusual venue could confirm.

AQUARIUS Jan 21-Feb 19

Over the first three weeks of August, with so much long-term action being dictated by partnership commitments, your freedom-loving instincts are, though important, a missing factor in the equation. Sure, the New Moon in Leo could kickstart a partner's renewed interest in you. Only problem being, you hold the vital key to what looks like a brilliant liaison. Trouble is, until the 17th, others might be too preoccupied with their part in the plan to take on board what you're suggesting. This rather frustrating interlude is all part of a very positive process. They will eventually listen. Maybe you should get away for a few days?

PISCES Feb 20-Mar 20

It's hardly the time to go all vague and noncommittal is it? Well, actually it being the 'dog days' and Mercury retrograding, maybe you're right to drift for a little while. OK, the New Moon on the 5th could offer a promising renewal of your working life. Yet, important practicalities can't be properly hammered out until well after the fall-out from a wacky Full Moon on the 19th has dissipated. Sure, weirdly wonderful Uranus is morphing your take on reality, but it's still important to recognise what is truly innovative and touched by genius and what is just   the ravings of a space cadet. Don't be beguiled in a vulnerable moment by somebody's gift of the cosmic jive. There are many true blessings in the invisible realms. Your access point to them is within you, within your own heart.

ARIES mar 21-Apr 20

Life should be feeling buoyant by the New Moon. Professional acknowledgement that your recent innovations are valid should encourage even the stragglers to stop dragging their heels. Despite a retrograde Mercury throwing communication into the blender, a negotiation can get started. Even a confusing beginning to a journey won't prevent it from becoming memorable. Domestic bliss? Not quiet yet! Soon, though, you'll be heading for a far more suitable environment. Feeling surprisingly wistful? Doh! Maybe in a headstrong moment you've left love and commitment out of the equation? Cheer up, your pulling power could come right back on track in a surprisingly passionate way by the end of the month!

TAURUS Apr 21-May 21

OK, even a sensualist like you can have too much of a good thing, as the New Moon could amusingly reveal. Yet, surprisingly, while you're stretched out on sunlounger with a chilled drink in your hand, your mind could be unusually preoccupied. Rather than letting your internal dialogue ramble over practical issues, your mind could be engaged in higher things. Can a brilliant friendship evolve into something more passionate? The Full Moon could escalate matters. You're ready for the Pandora's Box of emotions that such a deepening of intimacy can bring? You are? Great! Even so try to keep a sense of detachment if you want to avoid silly dramas.

GEMINI May 22-Jun 22

Important arrangements will work out - eventually! But while Mercury appears to be spinning backwards, confusing communications, mixing metaphors and dotting the 'T's instead of the I's, keep the faith! Associates with the best will in the world might be making matters even more tricky by insisting that you go for it at the beginning of August. Hold on. Yes, what's being proposed seems sound. Yet however enthusiastic others are, intuitively you could feel it's best to let it all hang loose until at least the 17th. After all, things tend to dangle, suspended in the warm, languid air of the dog days of August. It might be better to be on the beach rather than tangled in convoluted discussion in a humid office.

CANCER Jun 23-Jul 23

This August must feel so much happier than last summer. It's time to let off steam. Time to release all that wrought-up energy. With the Moon, your ruler, becoming new in Leo, a certain amount of drama and tears could be expected. Tears of joy-filled laughter could be the catalyst that springboards you into a far more reassuring reality. Look, you really do understand how much emotions sway decision-making. Once your own wholesome cries of relief have subsided, pitch in and help extract someone else from the quagmire of their own needless maudlin despair. This selfless act could create a ripple effect. Finally proving that your personal dark nights of the soul are now changing into the golden light of a new dawn. A wonderful new chapter in your life has begun!

LEO Jul 24-Aug 23

Saturn, the planet concerned with gritty reality, has begun its three-year transit of your sign. Slowly and cautiously, it's going to counter-balance all the heady idealism of Neptune in your opposite sign Aquarius. The crazy genius of the zodiac has no doubt inspired you but also created a rather fluffy and blurred vision concerning your future role in the world. Don't get disheartened by any confused signal during the weeks before the 17th. As cerebral Mercury retrogrades through your sign, your mind is primed for a review of your long-term strategy. You're now embarking on one of the most significant periods of your life, as the New Moon in Leo, your annual emotional renewal, underwrites. Try to see all the mixed messages and confused conversations at the start of August as your first lesson from Saturn in 'skilful patience'.
